Cooking
Welcome back, readers!!
Everyone has a hobby. Something they love doing and that brings them not only happiness but also peace. Something that acts as an escape. For me, that thing is cooking... and writing, reading, drawing, and singing (I have a lot of hobbies, I know). I love cooking and learning new recipes. So let me tell you about all the things I know to make and when I learnt them. (These are not in order.)
- Cakes / Cupcakes: I honestly don't remember when I learnt to make these. But I know that I definitely learnt the recipe from my grandmother (my mom's side). I basically grew up baking. I remember the first time I made something on my own: Eggless Vanilla Cupcakes. I was ten years old, maybe younger, and we had family over. And my aunt awed over my cupcakes.
- Honey Chilli Potato: This was the first recipe I learnt to make when I moved. I have always loved chilli potato and wanted to learn how to make it so that I could make and eat it whenever I wanted.
- Cookies: I don’t know if I can classify this in the category of know-how-to-make because the last time I made them, they ended up horrible. Not in taste (they tasted great) but a lot of them ended up burning because I tried to make them in the oven (I did not know how to use the oven. So I just ended up…winging it). But when I made the second batch in the microwave, they ended up great, so win-win I guess.
- Maggi: I know this sounds stupid, but I genuinely did not know how to make Maggi until last year when I went to camp and learnt how to make it. And now, according to my dad, I am the best Maggi maker among the four members of my family.
- Chilli Paneer: I recently learnt how to make this and it ended up great, so I am happy.
The process of cooking is very chaotic, especially while learning a new recipe, but in the end, (it’s worth it most of the time.) I have made a lot of mistakes while making these recipes as well. Like for instance, this one time when I tried to make marble cupcakes using a recipe meant for marble cake, it ended up rock solid and then my friends and I laughed about it for a while. That was the last recipe I made before I moved, and I learnt a lot from the next time. I made marble cake. It ended up fabulous.
And another thing worth mentioning is that I can make any recipe with chicken salami and cheese, so I guess that also makes for a good party trick.
