My Journey to Writing
Welcome back readers
So recently, I joined this Writing Programme by Mithaas Services, and our mentor, Devanshi Sharma, asked us to speak about our writing journey. I have told you all much about my past, but now that I recall, I haven't yet mentioned why I started writing, how I came to write, or even why I started this blog! I wrote about my first-grade experience but not about why I began writing. I said I was who I was because of that story I recited in first grade. Well...half of that is true. That story gave me the push I needed to start writing, but I barely remember any stories I might've written after that. When I close my eyes and go back, I recall memories from when I was a kid and visited my grandparents during summers. I remember sitting in my grandparents' living room with the rest of my extended family from the father's side, just watching my grandfather recite poems and stories he wrote. He spoke them in our native tongue, Odia, but being born and raised in Delhi, I didn't know how to speak or write Odia, but I could understand just enough to see that he was reciting a story he wrote. From what I've learned, writing runs in my family's blood. It might've skipped a generation or two since my elder sister or father can't write stories.
Seeing the look on my grandfather's face as he read his writing, watching that shine behind his eyes, gave me the push I needed to start writing. I don't remember when this was, but I know I want to write, put out my work, and grow my reach.
I'm Shreyanshi Dash, and I'm a writer. My first story was called 'The Secret Hero', my blog is called 'Barbie Public Diaries', and my first book was 'Max & Lily'. Writing helps me express my creativity and thoughts. I started this blog to leave a mark to look at when I was older and feel proud. I write because I want to express my creativity. I write because reality is brutal, and when I write, I write to escape reality. My purpose is to write books that help people escape their daily lives. I wanted to sit in front of the fireplace, curl up with one of my stories, and immerse myself in a fantasy that sounded too good to be true.
That's my dream. What's yours?
I hope you enjoyed this one!
Bye, guys; see you in the next post!
